1.4541 (321) is a titanium stabilized chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance.
Stainless steel 321 is a stable version of stainless steel 304. The 18/8 mixture of chromium and nickel is tempered with titanium to protect Type 321 from intergranular corrosion that may occur after heat treatment. It can withstand temperatures from 800 to 1500 ° F. This metal has high strength and resistance to various forms of corrosion, including corrosion from the water environment.

Model 321 is suitable for heavy welded components and dynamic environments that can change.
However, the addition of titanium limits the application of 321 in work. This metal is not recommended for certain welding techniques because it is not a consumable. In addition, stainless steel 321 has excellent molding properties, does not require annealing after welding, and exhibits toughness within a certain temperature range.
Metals exhibit strength even when exposed to low temperatures. In addition, it is generally more popular than Type 304 because of its higher resistance to creep and cracking. Both metals may be susceptible to stress corrosion cracking.
