1.2080 steel plate, also known as ASTM D3 steel, is a very versatile tool steel. The steel plate is manufactured in accordance with different international standards such as ASTM, DIN and JIS, ensuring its high quality and performance. Its chemical composition includes carbon, manganese, phosphorus, silicon, chromium, vanadium, molybdenum and nickel, which work together to provide excellent mechanical and physical properties.
It is a high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel with excellent wear resistance. The steel has good dimensional stability, high hardness and high strength, and is widely used in high stress cutting, sheet metal punching tools, shear blades for cutting, deep drawing tools, stone processing tools, paper and plastic cutting tools, sheet shear knives, pressure pads, highly wear-resistant plastic molds.

AISI Type D3 cold working tool steel is oil quenched; Small section austenitizing can be quenched with real air. Therefore, tools made of type D3 cold work tool steel are prone to become brittle during hardening. Type D2 tool steel is the most commonly used type D steel. D3 cold work steel contains 1.5-2.35% carbon and 12% chromium.
