AMS 4911 is a specification for 6Al-4V sheets, strips and plates. Known as the workhorse of the aerospace industry, 6Al-4V is often referred to as Ti 6AL-4V(or Ti 6-4), a designation that refers to its chemical composition of almost 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, 4% vanadium, 0.25%(the largest) iron, and 0.2%(the largest) oxygen.
6Al-4V is an alpha-β alloy that can be heat treated to obtain a moderate strength increase.
Ti 6AL-4V's high strength, light weight, formability and corrosion resistance make it the world standard for aerospace applications.
