254 Smo round steel is a super austenitic stainless steel alloy. The chemical composition of 254 Smo round steel contains high contents of molybdenum, chromium and nitrogen. Molybdenum enhances its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments, while Chromium improves its resistance to general corrosion in oxidizing environments. Nitrogen increases its strength, toughness, and resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Additionally, it contains small amounts of other metals such as nickel, iron, and copper that contribute to its overall performance.
This combination of chemical composition of 254 Smo round bar makes it corrosion-resistant and widely used in the oil and gas industry, chemical and petrochemical processing, and marine applications.
