Maraging 250 / VASCOMAX® 250 Steel - AMS 6512
AMS 6512 C250 Maraging steel round bar is an excellent material with superior properties, excellent workability and heat treatment characteristics. Maraging 250 or VASCOMAX®250 is an 18% nickel-cobalt reinforced steel that is produced by a secondary vacuum melting process of vacuum induction melting (VIM) and vacuum arc remelting (VAR), followed by annealing and descaling to obtain a martensitic material.
This alloy is very tough, relatively soft (RC 30/35), easy to process or form, has high durability, corrosion resistance and toughness ensure extended service life and maximum performance.
The Maraging 250 is a key component raw material for the aerospace, structural, parts and tool sectors.

Heat Treatment / Aging:
Maraging alloys are essentially carbon-free, a protective atmosphere is not required during annealing or aging. Material is supplied in the solution annealed condition with a hardness of 30/35 Rc. Typical heat treat time/temperature are listed below. Large cross sections should be aged for longer periods.
