1.2767 (45NCD16) High-Performance Cold Work Tool Steel - Preferred Choice for Heavy-Duty Precision Applications
1.2767 (also known as 45NCD16, 45NiCrMo16, X45NiCrMo4) is a high-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloyed cold work tool steel. It corresponds to the international standard AISI 6F7 and is manufactured in compliance with specifications such as DIN 17350 and ISO 4957. With an optimal balance of hardness and toughness, it has become a core material for heavy-duty cold working and precision mold manufacturing.
Core Product Highlights
Excellent Combination of Strength and Toughness, Impact Resistance: Contains 3.8%-4.3% high nickel content, providing exceptional impact toughness. It is not prone to brittle fracture or edge chipping under heavy-duty stamping and extrusion conditions, significantly reducing the risk of early mold failure.
Uniform Hardening Across Entire Cross-Section: Boasts outstanding hardenability. Even for large-sized steel or thick-section components, it can achieve uniform hardness distribution from the surface to the interior, ensuring excellent performance consistency.
Balance of Wear Resistance and Machinability: Reaches a hardness of up to 56HRC after quenching, offering superior wear resistance. It also features good polishability, texturing performance and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) suitability, meeting the high appearance requirements of precision molds.
Wide Process Adaptability: Supports forging into complex shapes and is compatible with Damascus forging processes. With a hardness of ≤260HB in the annealed state, it facilitates preliminary cutting and machining. The subsequent heat treatment process is mature and controllable.

Alloy cold working steel with very high hardenability, ductility, resistance to pressure, abrasion and high impact strength. The material is used for the production of shears for cutting steel sheets and sections, stamping dies, hydraulic chisels, cold forging dies, hardened knives, stamps, punches or moulds for the production of plastics. The grade is characterized by high strength, load resistance, tempering and fatigue resistance. The grades 45NiCrMo16 and 40NiCrMo16 have been enriched with additional content of nickel, and molybdenum in the chemical composition.

Delivery Condition (Annealed): Hardness ≤260HB, tensile strength ≥870N/mm², facilitating processing and forming.
Hardness After Quenching and Tempering: 56HRC at 100℃, 54HRC at 200℃, 50HRC at 300℃. Hardness attenuation is slow in medium and low-temperature environments.
Physical Properties: Density 7.85kg/dm³, elastic modulus 210kN/mm², thermal conductivity 28W/m·K (at 20℃), with performance suitable for cold working conditions.
