86CrMoV7 (corresponding to German standard 1.2327) is a high-carbon low-alloy cold working tool steel / cold rolling mill-specific steel. Its core characteristics include high hardenability, high hardness, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, and low crack sensitivity. It is mainly used for large-sized cold rolling mills and precision cold working molds.

Hardness: Can reach 62–65 HRC after quenching + low-temperature tempering; 100°C tempering ≈ 64 HRC, 200°C tempering ≈ 60 HRC
Hardenability: Excellent, uniform hardening for large sections (roll diameter ≤ 700mm)
Toughness: Moderate-high toughness, good impact resistance and fatigue resistance, low crack sensitivity
Wear resistance: High carbon + Cr/Mo/V composite strengthening, long wear life

IV. Heat Treatment Process
Annealing: Hold at 780–820°C, cool in furnace to ≤ 500°C and air cool; hardness ≤ 240 HB
Quenching: Oil quenching / salt bath cooling
Tempering: Hold at 180–220°C for 2–4 hours, air cool; common 200°C tempering, balancing hardness and toughness
